Day 1 – Juneau, Alaska
Arrive in Juneau,where you are transferred from the airport to board your luxury adventure yacht. Cruise to a secluded wilderness to drop anchor this evening.
Days 2 and 3 – Glacier Bay National Park
Over the next two days, cruise 60 miles upbay to Grand Pacific and Margerie glaciers, which frequently calve colossal icebergs into the frigid waters. Conditions permitting, weave among the freshly fallen icebergs on an inflatable raft. Spend evenings peacefully anchored in hidden coves and mornings paddling your kayak in this quiet wilderness. View an astounding variety of native species, including puffin, sea lion, mountain goat,bear, moose and eagle.
Day 4 – Icy Strait
Set out on the ultimate day of exploration. This morning, join the captain on the bridge or out on deck to scour the nutrient-rich waters in search for humpback whales, porpoise, sea lion and other wildlife. Marvel at the grand scenery of the Alaskan wilderness as our crew expertly guides us through those areas ‘not found in guide books’. Later this afternoon,drop the skiffs and kayaks to further explore the shoreline of a remote bay. Spend the afternoon and evening at Point Adolphus,famous for being a popular feeding area for humpback whales. Watch for the telltale blow of humpback while cruising through Icy Strait. Before retiring for the evening,enjoy the wilderness solitude while relaxing in the upper deck hot tub, or enjoy a nightcap with your fellow travellers in the salon.
Day 5 – Frederick Sound
Cruise around Admiralty Island to more prime humpbackviewing waters in Frederick Sound. Take time for skiff operations and sea kayaking in Saginaw Bay, and cruise up-close to a sea lion colony at the Brothers Islands. Tonight anchor in a remote and picturesque bay.
Day 6 – Admiralty Island
Tuck into Gambier Bay, a large, island-speckled body of water on the south coast of Admiralty Island National Monument. Explore this cool forested bay up-close on kayaks and skiffs.Never logged, the thick evergreen forest crowds right down to the gravel beaches. Here is an outstanding opportunity to spot the brown or grizzly bears for which Admiralty Island is famous. At low tide, they congregate right on the beaches, seeking a shellfish supper. Once againunder way, watch for humpback whale before anchoring at Wood Spit for more exploration by kayak and skiff.
Day 7 – Ford’s Terror/Endicott Arm
Marvel at landscapes of cliff-walled fjords slicing into the mountainous mainland as the yacht tucks into an area widely acclaimed as the most beautiful in all of Alaska. Snow gleams on mountain tops overhead as bears amble on the shoreline and mountain goats cling to precarious perches. Every few hundred yards, another sparkling waterfall seems to tumble down the cliffs. Tonight, anchor at Taku Harbor to enjoy a special farewell dinner.
Day 8 – Juneau
After breakfast, you transfer to the airport before returning to Seattle (where we’d recommend you spend a few days exploring) and then on to the UK.
